Concrete Countertop Process
Once a color and design has been chosen a series of steps will follow:
1) A day will be set up and agreed upon by both parties so that a temple of the cabinets can be made. This is the most crucial step of the process. Most walls are not strait and the corners more often than not are not true 90 degree corners. This is not a concern because with our template we will trace the wall precisely. At this time we will discuss with you any seams that will need to be made, where the sink, faucet and air gap will be placed and how we will bring the counters into the residence. At this point it is very important to have the sink and faucet purchased so that the templates can be taken back to our shop and no mistakes will be made.
2) Once the template is at our shop the form building process will take place. This usually takes about a day, sometimes longer depending on the complexity of the mold.
3) Once the mold is complete we will fill the mold with concrete and finish as discussed with you. This takes one day.
4) Approximately 24 hours after the concrete is poured it is stripped from the mold and place on 2X4s to allow the slab to cure evenly. It is left to cure on stickers for 48 hours.
5) After slab has cured sufficiently the finishing process will begin, polishing and sealing. This process takes from 1 to 4 days.
6) Once the slab is done a date for delivery will be set up and the countertop delivered.
7) At this point your plumber can install the faucet and water hookups to the countertop.
8) Lead times vary but usually 2 weeks from contract signing to delivery.
